Peanuts are Planted!!!

How does the song go???  "With a little bit of help from our friends..."  Well, the cub scouts showed up at our community garden and learned a lot and helped out even more!  They pulled weeds, identified plants, and then helped plant the whole bed of peanuts!!  They didn't even mind getting their hands dirty!!  THANKS, BOYS!!!

Spring is Sprung!!!

Lots of work getting done in the garden!!  All of the north beds have pvc lines attached and are running.  The peas are doing well, the beets, onions, lettuce and spinach are all coming up nicely.  The potatoes are a little slow...at least for the not-so-patient
We cut 100 pieces of bamboo from a friend's place in Ivins and are constructing bamboo tepees/trellises for our tomato plants...it's an experiment this year!!  Keep watching and you'll see how it works out!

Beets, lettuce and spinach have been thinned...a few times!!  Onions have been replanted from their "clumps" to a little more growing room...
And we planted nearly 50 indeterminate tomato plants:  Juliet grape tomatoes, Wilford, Roma, Champion, Early Goliath and Goliath.  Bought our plants from Ballard's Nursery in Hurricane.  Maybe next year we'll start growing our own starts...maybe!!
