HERE COMES THE SUN. . .

You know things are starting to warm up in Dixie when we have our work parties at 7:00 A.M., AND people show up!!

We had a great 1 hour work party this morning and we got tons done!!!  We pulled two buckets of carrots, 1 bucket of beets; we picked squash, zucchini, Aremenian cucumbers, cruncher muncher cukes, potatoes (they need to stay in the ground a bit longer!), a few ripe tomatoes, lots of peppers (Anaheim, jalapeno, and banana peppers), and we planted a couple more beds of zucchini and yellow squash.  Hopefully, we will have squash until it's too cold to grow any more!!

One hour later, we've had a fun time together, we go home with some great veggies, AND it's only 8:00 in the morning!!  HOORAY!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE our Desert Garden!!!

Here it is, nearly the end of May, and we've harvested tons of peas, buckets full of zucchini and yellow squash, dug up and ate some of the best spring potatoes ever, and the garden is just beginning!!  We sure are blessed to live in this area!!  Keep up the good work, desert gardeners!!

We Are Planted!!

 What a BRISK planting party we had!!  The sun was out, but so was the chilly wind.  We have hardy planters in our garden crew!! We planted TOMATOES (yes, we gamble in the garden, NOT in Mesquite!), and PEPPERS from plants, and seeds of CUCUMBERS, ZUCCHINI, CROOKNECK SQUASH, GREEN BEANS, CARROTS, AND BEETS.  The only thing we have left to plant is PEANUTS. . .  in early April!!!  Soooo, excited for everything to grow!!

 

 

 

SPRINGTIME SPRINKLER WORK. . .

Too bad the garden doesn't just automatically fix the broken valves, instantly change over to bubblers from soaker hoses and sprayers. . . but we have a lot of good workers who help out and make it FUN to be in the garden!!  Here are just a few of the pics from our last garden venture before Spring Break hit and some of us left town!!  (Even a garden has a hard time competing with the lure of the BEACH!!)  It's a good thing it rained just before we left, and the plants did a good job of growing while we were gone!!

THIS is the life. . .Dixie Sunshine in Early March!!

Yep, it's March 5th, and the peas are up, the carrots and beets and poking their little sprouts up, the lettuce is on it's way, AND the potatoes are making their presence known!!  And we got some great vitamin D through our skin all while we worked in the garden!!

We have quite a bit more work to do getting all the bubblers put on, but thanks to everyone's help, we have a good start!  We'll do "round 2" on Thursday, March 7th!  Come join the fun!!
